On the Trails
Trails
Trails run throughout the Eagle Lake community property. They are quite diverse, from relatively flat walks such as the trail around Eagle Lake, to ones with substantially more elevation. Some cross beautiful little streams and waterfalls, some may lead you to an outlook where you can glimpse saltwater and mountains. You almost always see deer, if you can spot them camouflaged in the trees. The site map in the breezeway of the Meeting House and the enclosed map mark some trails. Some of the trails are marked with signs or rock cairns, but the best way to learn about Eagle Lake hikes is to talk with ELCA folks who not only hike a lot, but also find and create new trails regularly.

Saltwater beach
The trail to the saltwater beach is a beautiful walk through the woods on an old logging trail. Along the way you’ll get glimpses of the ocean, Lummi Island, and mainland Washington. Once down at the beach you’ll find brightly colored starfish clinging to the rocks at low tide, and will often see seals and sea lions, and perhaps even a river otter. If you are really lucky a pod of orca whales will swim by. The beach trail is not maintained for vehicles. Do not drive down the road beyond the beach parking area.

Garden
The garden is available for use by all ELCA members.

Roads
All drivers on Eagle Lake roads must be licensed. Please observe posted speed limits – children, hikers, bikers,
animals and slow-moving vehicles all share our roads. Unlicensed all-terrain recreational vehicles, motorized
bikes, go-carts, and other recreational vehicles may not be used on ELCA property.

Fires
Fire is of grave concern and Eagle Lake has a Fire Policy, which is posted on the website. Campfires are not permitted on undeveloped sites. There are specific restrictions on sites with homes, which the Fire Policy explains in detail. Fires are permitted in the Lake Shelter and Meeting House fireplaces, and in the barbecue grills at the lake, playfield, and beach parking area.

Adjacent Properties
Owners of properties north of Eagle Lake may use the dam and lake according to their property easements.

Dogs/Pets
Several of us have dogs, and they are often with us on hikes or swimming with us in the lake. In order for everyone to enjoy their time at the lake or on the trails, please keep your dogs leashed. Most importantly, YOU MUST CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR PETS. To help with this while you and your pets are in the common areas of the property, there are disposable bags available at the boat dock, at the beach parking area, and on the playfield.
