Memo: Orcas Sewage Design Update Regarding Jurisdiction Changes Regarding State and County.

As a reminder, most if not all of us with homes built here in EL, typically pay a group discounted fee of about $150/year to have our septic systems inspected and reported to the county annually, typically June/July.  Most will be pumped clean every couple of years at an additional cost.

All EL homes and lots USED to be under county jurisdiction.  Basically our make-up is 11 homes within Eagle Lake that are currently connected to LOSS A and B Systems, and the rest are on our Phase 1 recirculating system.

That jurisdiction just changed.

Under the new Washington State Jurisdiction change, 11 homes within Eagle Lake that are currently connected to LOSS A and B Systems Will HAVE to undergo a mandatory septic inspection and report sent to the State each year.  Cost will remain the same, only the billing will be a little different. These 11 homes will be billed through your ELCA quarterly statements as a separate line item on your invoice, rather than a stand-alone or separate bill directly from OSD.  All other homes that are on our recirculation system near the shop aka phase 1)-this stays inside county jurisdiction, and those homeowners will continue to be billed directly.
